It is traditional for economists to classify the performance of the organization that they work for by referring to standard economic business metrics within their reports. To many of these economists, the concept of carbon baseline reporting is very alien. However, they must understand the importance of carbon baseline measurement, as science and technology insist that we use these measurements as well.

Business executives may no longer refer to energy efficiency in terms of utility costs alone, as society now demands that every company reveals the volume of carbon emissions associated with energy use. Carbon by itself is not yet classified as a tradable commodity, although this could change fairly shortly, could one day soon have an attached value and be of equal importance on a balance sheet as well.

Amazingly, some organizations still consider corporate sustainability to be a buzzword and are just not “with it” when it comes to far-reaching implications. There is potential trouble ahead for these organizations and they could well be doomed to failure unless they realize that they need to educate themselves quickly and take action right now. This is far from being just an issue for “green” activists and is a matter of corporate life or death.

The SEC carbon disclosure finding was issued in early February and caught many public companies off their guard. Opinion had been growing around the country however and pressure groups had already submitted several petitions to the Securities and Exchange Commission over the years. While the Commission was not seen to be very active during the previous administration, an important clarification has now been issued and corporate action is expected.

The term Climate Change has been more oftentimes used in present day conversations than twenty years ago. Sociological Studies hinted that as Society becomes more complex, so is its Language. This just tells us that the use of new words or phrases as topics depends on its evidence in that society. In connection with the present, the idea that Sociology has propounded is valid. The concept of Climate Change has truly become more obvious now in our contemporary society.

In the past, we often thought of little changes around us as insignificant matters unworthy of our time. The hustles and bustles of life unwittingly shadowed these serious problems that now, we are afflicted with. We even thought of those Scientists who assiduously coordinate forums about its risks as absurd people; but the truth is, they are the true illuminators. They shed light to the things that we have been snubbing for a long time. There have been activities to fight this seemingly minutiae problem, but still, they are not sufficient. We must remember that problems facing the world will not be solved if only one symptom is cured; a holistic mending is definitely required.

If material information is not included relating to climate change issues, SEC corporate filings will now be seen as incomplete. This is an important conclusion as part of “interpretive guidance” given to us by the Securities and Exchange Commission at the end of January. This change came about as a result of pressure from investor organizations and public figures, who felt that companies tend to overlook information related to climate change. This information is very important as it affects the judgment and decisions of investors.

Corporations are discovering just how important climate related issues can be to their very existence. In certain jurisdictions stringent legislation is already in place to encourage companies to cut back on energy use, to move toward the goal of sustainability and to cut their carbon emissions significantly. In the United States, the EPA has found that greenhouse gases are a threat to public health and this could lead to additional action to force those responsible for emitting carbon to cut back.

As one of nature’s most beautiful gifts, flowers grow in different types of climates and regions. The type of flower that flourishes in a specific region will depend on the climate and soil. There are different types of flowers with different lifecycles. Annual flowers are plants that complete their lifecycle in one season and biennial flowers take two years to complete there lifecycle. Flowers grow from seed germination to a mature plant that produces seeds. Monocots and Dicots are the two main classes of flowering plants.

As the new your chimed in, a milestone was reached in the controversial California carbon emission legislation known as AB 32. The Global Warming Solutions Act, initially tabled in 2006, took this step forward when the state board coded regulations to implement several discrete, greenhouse gas emission reduction activities on an “early action” basis.

During 2009, the California Air Resource Board adopted a scoping plan to help the state achieve the maximum “technologically feasible and cost-effective” reductions, scheduled for measurement in the year 2020. A 25% reduction, as measured against the baseline year of 1990, is targeted.
