Nilgün Güleç (Turkish Organizing Committee, Publications & Information Sub-Committee Chairperson)  

Nilgün is Professor (since 2000) of the Geological Engineering Department of the Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey. She has her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Geological Engineering from METU, and a Ph.D. in Isotope Geochemistry from the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge (U.K.) gained while on a NATO Science Fellowship (1983-1987).  Her specialities are in the fields of geochemistry and isotope geology as applied to geothermal systems, and in the petrogenesis of volcanics and granitoids. Nilgün served as Assistant Chair of the Geological Engineering Department of METU in 1996-1998, and has been a member of the Engineering Faculty Academic Board of METU since 2001. She also served on the Organizing Committee for the International Volcanological Congress (IAVCEI) 1994, and the Third International Turkish Geology Symposium 1998. Nilgün is currently acting as the coordinator of a research project concerned with monitoring the isotope composition of fluids in geothermal systems, in relation to seismic activities along the North Anatolian Fault Zone.
