Ali Kocak (Chair, Field Trips Sub-Committee)

Ali is a Geological Engineer. He has a  M.Sc. degree in Geology from the Geological Engineering Department of Faculty of Science from Istanbul University (1973) and a Ph.D. Degree on Hydrogeochemistry from Hacettepe University (1997). He began work in the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Department of Mineral Research and Exploration General Directorate (MTA) of Turkey in 1973. He worked as a senior geologist in Hydrogeology section. He attended the post-gradute course on Geothermal Energy Technology in Geothermal Institute of Auckland University (New Zealand) in 1984 and received a diploma  on Hydrogeochemistry of a Geothermal Field in  1985. After this course he started in the geothermal energy exploration section and worked there as senior and project manager in many geothermal fields. Later he served as co-ordinator of Geothermal Energy and Hydrogeology  section for several years. He also attended a post-graduate study in International Post-Gradute School of Geothermics in Italy in 1992.  He served in the committees on Geothermal Energy in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th Five Years Development Programme for the Prime Ministry-State Planning Organization of Turkey. He has several papers and reports on geothermal energy in Turkey
