April 30 - May 3, 2005 (4 Days)

This trip leaves Antalya on the morning after the Congress (Saturday 30 April) and travels over the Taurus Mountains to Denizli for lunch, followed by a visit to Kizildere Geothermal Field and Power Station.  In the late afternoon there is a visit to see the famous hot springs and travertine terraces at Pamukkale and the ruins of Hierapolis (World Heritage Site).  Dinner and overnight at Pamukkale.  The next morning (Sunday 1 May) the trip will travel down the Menderes Valley to visit to Ömerbeyli-Germencik Geothermal Field, then on to have lunch in Selçuk.  After lunch there will be a visit to the Virgin Mary House where it is believed that the Virgin Mary came with St. John at the end of her life (37-45 AD).  After this there will be a visit to Ephesus , another World Heritage Site, to see amongst other things the famous Library of Celsus.  Dinner and overnight in Izmir .  In the morning of the third day (Monday 2 May) the trip will travel north along the coastal highway to Edremit for lunch, and then on to the Tuzla Geothermal Field.  In the late afternoon there will be a visit to the ruins of Troy , excavated by the amateur archaeologist and treasure-seeker Heinrich Schliemann in 1871. Dinner and overnight in Çanakkale.  The following morning (Tuesday 3 May) the trip will cross the Dardanelles to Gallipoli to visit the WWI battlefield.  Lunch in Gallipoli, then drive to Istanbul where the tour ends.
